Woody's Seafood Saloon, St. John

St. John USVI Restaurants

Looking for some of the best beers on tap on St. John? Look no further than Woody's Seafood Saloon. As you've probably already gathered from its name, this local bar is far from a fine dining experience. Nevertheless, it makes for a great place to hang out and watch the waves while you enjoy the company of locals and the youthful energy of island vacationers. Check out the live reggae on Wednesday nights and be sure not to miss a Saturday night frolic at Woody's Seafood Saloon. To accompany the great beer, dig into a plate of fried seafood that you are sure to enjoy.

The Food

When ordering a plate of sumptuous seafood to go along with your tasty on tap beer, you can choose from a variety of shrimp dishes including the classic plate of deep fried prawns. Other seafood delights come in the form of shark blackened to perfection, sumptuous shellfish, beer-steamed clams and sumptuous mussel. The place is also famous for its conch fritters and bite-size morsels of tasty shark. In addition to the delicious variety of seafood offered here at Woody's Seafood Saloon, sink your teeth into a juicy burger.

The Watering Hole

Woody's Seafood Saloon is probably the best place to go if you are craving a frothy delicious beer on tap to quench your desert island thirst. Throw back a tall one - my favorite is the ice cold Heineken, advertised by the bright green neon sign raised up near the television set that plays everyone's favorite sports channel most of the time.

Along with great beers on tap, Woody's Seafood Saloon offers a wide variety of beloved frozen drinks, shots and "Killer Cocktails." Among the most notable of the frozen drinks are the Limin' Coconut - a distant cousin to the piña colada - a frozen Bushwacker for the professed lovers of Bailey's and the famous BBC - just try these, and you'll find out for yourself what a tropical night can become here.

There are even a few shots that the extra adventurous birthday people or spring break cruisers can take advantage of. They include the famous Sex on the Beach and the Surfer on Acid.

The Scene

As you may have guessed, this beach front bar is a popular hangout for the youthful island visitors who come to St. John to relax, have a good time, and get a little partying out of the way. But one of the wonderful aspects of the island culture is how well the locals keep in with the tourists. That's why Woody's Seafood Saloon hosts vacationers as well as local island folk - the latter comprising people who drive cabs, fishmongers and the lost hippy types who are stuck on the island and loving it. Everyone seems to get along and it's not just because of the freely flowing booze. It's more a sense of tropical warmth and fun loving community that brings everybody here to St. John's. Indeed, while everybody soon finds his or her place on this beautiful island, why not make your favorite place Woody's Seafood Saloon?
