One of the popular destinations of the Virgin Island beaches is Trunk Bay located two miles beyond downtown Cruz Bay, straight on route 20 North Shore Road, a village founded by the native American inhabitants around 700 AD with an extension of over a quarter-mile long and heart-shaped appearance in St. John, the smallest of the U.S.A. Virgin Islands.

And visitors can rent snorkeling equipment and access convenient facilities:, showers, restrooms, snack bar and changing areas as well as public telephones, picnic tables and other services provided by the national park and the pay of a nominal admission fee also includes the access to the historic Annaberg Plantation.
The characteristic crystal clear and calm turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea is Trunk Bay's perfect scenario for a quiet walk through its white sand bordered by exuberant coconut palms and tropical foliage.
Plan on seeing along the way a total of 15 artistic underwater plaques that identify the variety of corals and fish inhabitants of the bay coasts.
In your visit to St. John's Trunk Bay don't forget to pay a visit the archeological dig where several years ago researchers encountered prehistoric artifacts; the excavation uncovered the vestiges of hundreds of pottery shards, animal bones and other plant material and residues useful for carbon dating and the observation of the style, nature and age of such artifacts and their changes over the time as well to study the relationship of this dig to the Cinnamon Bay dig nearby.
Feel the fascination of this paradise and get involved volunteering in the archeological investigations, enjoy the swimming area or live the fascinating underwater trail over and over again as frequent guests like actors Richard Widmark and Henry Fonda among others famous Trunk Bay visitors now and then.
The beach receives large groups of visitors during the high visitor season of the year including cruise ship passengers, party boats, domestic and international tourists. Trunk Bay is easily accessible by public bus, taxi or car; there is a scenic ferry ride across Pillsbury Sound to St. John.
