Quiet Mon Pub, St. John

St. John USVI Restaurants

A true fusion of nationalities has been enacted in order to create the Quiet Mon Pub. In its name alone, this must-visit Irish style pub combines the friendly heartiness of Ireland with the cool Caribbean tone of a Jamaican, making this one of the hippest places to drink and eat on the Island of St. John. Come for lunch to grab a sandwich or swing by in the evening to throw down a pint or two - it can all be done here at the Quiet Mon Pub.

The Food

Certainly not the fine dining experience when visiting the island of St. John, eating at the Quiet Mon Pub can definitely be described as unique. Where else will you find hardy Irish cuisine on a tropical island resort and vacation destination like St. John? Instead of just asking your self this obvious question, however, it would be well advised to head over there already and be blown away by the gigantic Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. Alternatively, sink your teeth into a huge submarine style delight such as seen in a New York delicatessen. Choose from any one of a wide variety of meat selections to include in your great big submarine sandwich - here you can get turkey, ham or even beef roasted in the Irish style. Along with this try the delicious lasagna - if you're lucky enough to find it on special - or the savory soup of the day. Occasionally guests will be graced with an authentic Irish dish cooked up by the chef.

The food here is definitely different from what is served at the rest of the island's many restaurants, delis and eateries - in fact, it seems to defy the tropical spice that seems to have settled upon every other dish in practically every other restaurant on the island. Well, more power to them at the Quiet Mon Pub if they can go against the grain. Their survival, however, is probably dependent upon the unalterable law of the universe which states that wherever you go in the world, there will always be an Irish pub there to quench your thirst for a good tall pint of Guinness.

The Drinks

Indeed, what would the Island of St. John be if it weren't for the unquestioned presence of an Irish pub? What sort of crowds would gather around at around the time of the setting of the sun and mingle? What kind of people would laugh and chat while they sipped beers and munched on casually cooked Irish cuisine?

Without this fortunately placed establishment, the night life of St. John would be a lot different. That's because the Quiet Mon Pub is actually a magnet for hip locals as well as travelers who take especial pleasure in showing up here to mingle, drink beer and begin a the evening events that many describe as the semblance of night life here on the beautiful, sleepy island of St. John. While a great place to begin the night, the Quiet Mon also stays open till 2, making it a great place to end a night of carousing - on St. John, it seems that every day is a vacation.
