Therefore, you should be aware that the time zone at St. John – known as U.S. Virgin Islands Time – is GMT-4. This means that when it is 4:00p.m. in St. John, it is 3:00p.m. in Miami, 12:00p.m. in Seattle and 8:00p.m. in London.
What type of currency is used on St. John?
If you are coming from the United States, don’t change your money. The only currency officially accepted throughout St. John and the U.S. Virgin Islands is the U.S. dollar.

To take care of your gift shopping, grocery shopping, going to the bank, and all other activities at St. John, normal business hours pretty typical of anywhere else in the United States. While shops open around 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and close around 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m, vacationers will find that banks open around the same time and close anywhere from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
